Turkey's Official Holidays – What It Means for Turcamart
1. New Year's Day (Yılbaşı) – January 1
Much like in the United States, New Year's Day in Türkiye is a time to rest from the previous night's partying. Since this is a national holiday, most business concerns close, and this includes Turcamart. If you place an order during this time, allow us a day to recharge our energies and gear up for the rest of the year.2. National Sovereignty and Children's Day (Ulusal Egemenlik ve Çocuk Bayramı) – April 23
This day is very special to the Turkish. It is the anniversary of the founding of the Grand National Assembly, but it's also a day dedicated to children. All over the country, children's activities and festivities are organized. This is a national holiday, so we suspend work; consequently, shipments to your place may take a little longer than usual.3. Labor and Solidarity Day (Emek ve Dayanışma Günü) – May 1
On the 1st of May, Türkiye has a public holiday for their workers. It is a day off for everyone from the company and to be grateful for the labors' efforts. Turcamart is closed on this day just like any other company, so be aware that the orders in the period around this day will suffer some delay.4. Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day (Atatürk'ü Anma, Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı) – May 19
This is a holiday for the beginning of the Turkish War of Independence, led by Atatürk. It is also a day for celebrating youth and sports, with events being held all over the country. In partaking in the celebrations of this holiday, Turcamart will halt its operations, and your orders may take a little longer to reach you.5. Victory Day (Zafer Bayramı) – August 30
Celebrated in remembrance of a significant military victory in our history, you will find a lot of parades and patriotic activities underway in Türkiye. Of course, it's a public holiday in which our team at Turcamart participates in the national celebrations. Please note that your shipment may be slightly delayed during this period.6. Republic Day (Cumhuriyet Bayramı) – October 29
One big day for all of us, full of national pride and celebrations, is Republic Day—the anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye in 1923. We will be off for a while to join in the festivities, so orders may be delayed.7. Religious Holidays: Ramadan and Eid al-Adha (Ramazan Bayramı ve Kurban Bayramı)
Apart from the national holidays, there are two big religious holidays celebrated in Türkiye:-
Ramadan (Eid al-Fitr) (Ramazan Bayramı in Turkish): This is a three-day holiday celebrating the holy month of Ramadan. It is a time for feasting and spending time with family. Turcamart suspends its activities like most other establishments at this time of the year, so expect a slight delay in shipping.
- Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayramı): This holiday lasts for four days. Relatives usually slaughter animals and distribute the meat obtained among poor people. It is a special time for us; during this time, our activity will be put on hold, with all the consequences, which might cause some delays in term of order fulfillment.
How Turcamart's Holidays Impact You
At Turcamart, we work diligently to deliver all your favorite Turkish groceries and snacks to your doorstep in the U.S. as quickly as possible; however, on official holidays, we are forced to stop our activity, and this can push delivery back a day or two.
Shipments are not affected by Turkish holidays if they already left Turkey. Even if we ship your package the day before the official holiday, shipments progress. They are not affected by Türkiye's holiday.
In case you know of any coming holidays, please be advised that we highly encourage advance ordering to avoid any hassle. We always do our best to keep things on track, but thank you in advance for understanding if there are delays due to these celebrations.
